Nature's Story

We all have our own story and so does Nature. Nature is sharing it's story every day. We know the seasons change and you can see and feel the difference when the changes take place, that tells a story. But, the story is happening day by day, hour by hour and minute by minute and continues to take its own shape.

" I think Nature's imagination is so much greater than man's. She is never going to let us relax." Richard Phillips Feynman.

What is the story going on around you? Take time each day to listen, feel, smell and be in the story. What is she telling you today? In the wakening of the day ( which is my most favorite time of day), listen with eyes closed. Birds awake at dawn and not only sing a song....they chirp and chatter and talk to each other. Spring you can hear babies in the nest crying for breakfast, predator birds soaring over and calling out to the flock when they sight a meal and turkeys gobble loudly as they flaunt the mating calls.

There is so much more happening along with just fowl friends, the sky, clouds, wind even rain? What does the clouds speak out? Maybe fog creeping up the tree line and filtering in and out of the branches. Clouds opening up and shining down sunrise to brighten your awakening.

“From where we stand the rain seems random. If we could stand somewhere else, we would see the order in it.”

― Tony Hillerman, Coyote Waits

The air tells part of the story. The temperature, winds and speeds of air moving. While we thinking of feeling a temperature and the wind, can you hear it blowing or is it still? Is the wind light and gentle on the face or blustery that fills a 3 year old with excitement of "windy!"

Is the wind cold or a "Chinook"? A Chinook wind, "The winds are caused by moist weather patterns, originating off the Pacific coast, cooling as they climb the western slopes, and then rapidly warming as they drop down the eastern side of the mountains." You feel the warmth in the middle of a cooler climate. The Chinook tells a story of Nature, "Powerful, warm winds have the ability to carry sounds long distances. Effects on Soil and Vegetation: Soil moisture will be lost, and the high winds can result in soil loss. Many trees, such as the white birch can not survive the rapid temperature changes."

Go outside and feel the story being told, sometimes it helps us start our day and how our own story will unfold. Let your story be guided by Natures story. After all, it can and will effect your story of the day. Its more than weather, but we wait and watch the weather to plan our days. Will you have to shovel snow, wear a rain jacket or throw on shorts and sunscreen? Do you get effected by dark cloudy days and perk with sunshine? Nature leads your story.

“The storm starts, when the drops start dropping

When the drops stop dropping then the storm starts stopping.”

― Dr. Seuss
