Fall is here, Embrace the Change!

One of the best things about living in the woods, is my connection to nature.

The Gorge communities are filled with beautiful scenic hideaways, mountains, lakes and rivers, trails, forests and wildlife.

Every day is an adventure, it’s a new day and a new beginning.

It does not take tons of effort to decide how you will start your adventure.

And if you did not like yesterday, then take the opportunity to let go and “do over”, write a new chapter starting today.

I love every season with its changes. I could walk my same road every day (and I do several times a week) and still see a change or something new from yesterdays’ view.

Its Fall Time! The air is becoming more brisk and damp. The mornings may have frost sprinkled across my yard when I wake. The trees in the morning may hang on to the lingering clouds that gently stretch across the mountain tops like whisping cotton.

The season is wrapping up and Winter is trying to work its way into our lives. The leaves that have changed color on the trees are dropping. The other day when I walked it literally looked like it was raining yellow leaves, not just one or two floating down from the trees but they were shaken from the wind as the trees were letting go of its leaves. There are a few colors here and there hanging on to be the last ones to touch ground.

You can feel it in the energy of the animals and wildlife. Every morning I sit in my window bench gazing on my mountain, watching for my bears to cross the clear cut. I have not seen them for weeks. I keep hoping I will get one last spotting before they venture up higher in the mountains and prepare for their Winter sleep. The deer are very active in Fall. I suppose, this is why hunting season takes full form in Fall. The Bucks are in rut and looking to mate before the snow approaches. The birds are flipping the dead leaves on the ground and rustling around to find the seeds hidden. The Squirrels are very active as they gather every nut and seed from pinecones and throw the rest down from the tree tops. The energy from the animals preparing for Winter gives a different sense in the air when I walk.

It feels good to walk in Nature and bundle up with warm clothes, mittens and a hat. It was nice to walk all summer in lighter clothes, but to dig out the winter clothes and feel soft warm and snuggled in the frosty air and be a part of the seasonal change. Of course, it’s even nicer to come inside to a warm crackling fire that evenly heats the house. The climate inside is different too, our internal clocks and body changes with nature as the change occurs.

I love each season as it approaches, I am ready for it. Change is invigorating.

So as Fall has come in full force and we know Winter is on the sly trying to sneak its way in for its turn, take a deep breath and appreciate the beauty in every day.

Every day we must wake with a new positive energy before we jump into todays’ battle. So, if you feel overwhelmed with the shorter days of light and pressure to hurry and accomplish great things, be sure to take at-least one moment. Breathe.

Appreciate the change in nature, don’t miss it, because every day its different.
