Live, Work, Play and Love
“Do what you like and like what you do”; from one of my happy places I enjoy- Life is Good.
We should all live by this, wouldn’t the world be a happier place? After all, we spend a majority of our life working, so be passionate about your work. What about where you live? Yes! The sayings “Home is where the heart is”. Your heart can make anywhere home.
Well, we have it here in The Heart of the Gorge in our community. Skamania County, Stevenson/ Carson, the people here “do what they like and like what they do”. And mind you, they do it well and with passion. On my short trip home to Bearcreek last night, from a small community event, my heart was inspired. Driving home, I found a smile of contentment on my face as I reflected on my evening and brief encounter with some of our finest community people. This smile was also reflecting a sense of pride in the people, I call home.
Small communities exist all over the state, the country, and the world. I am sure there are many similar to ours. But, our community is rich. Rich with passion and love for our small town where we all live. We are made up of business people, working professionals in the health and wellness, food industry, gift shops, arts, education, emergency professionals, stores from hardware to coffee. We may not have an abundance of stores, and I am sure we could benefit from more. But when do we “need more”, or do we just want it? If we want more than our little town has to offer, you can venture to the big city. Yes, You are right, I do not venture out very far or often.
I do not need or desire to venture far or often. Because, I am home right here. In a community with the most outstanding people who share a common passion. Passion for what they do, for the people here and bettering our community.
I have had many professions in my life. From
Bartending, road construction flagging, preschool teacher, Behavior coach, photographer, volunteering, retail, to my richest career; caring for the elderly and serving on SCEMS. It does not matter what you do, as long as you do it with passion.
Our community has passion! Together in work, play and living; the people here have a love and commitment for the community and what they do. That is success! Skamania County is in the Heart of the Columbia River Gorge, because of the huge hearts of the people who live here. So, come visit our town, maybe one day if you decide to move here and make it home, be sure to get involved and give part of your heart.
