Autum; What does it Mean to You?

Autum brings on its own whole meaning with colors, sounds, and smells. Thinking about autumn can bring about some pleasant thoughts. And while it is common to think about cozy scarves and delicious pies, crisp chilly nights, bright vibrant colors and the smell of fires in the woodstove, the symbolic meanings of autumn are more profound than you think. Ancient cultures, science, and astrology have associated many aspects of this beautiful season to human life. These symbolic associations are powerful reminders that Mother Nature has an incredible influence on our lives.
Autum is change, from the weather changing and we get to switch out the clothes in our closet, put away shorts and tank tops to bring out sweaters and boots. Its more than that! Nature tells the animals its time to prepare. The squirrels gather and store for Winter months to come. The Bears forge on finding the last meals before a long sleep. Its a time to possibly see more wildlife. Usually in the Fall, the deer and elk are more active. With dry summers the animals come down lower for food and water, they come into the fields and orchards wanting their own harvest. Which of course brings the predators in closer too.
There are so many ways to welcome the new season. I am personally looking forward to diving into my long list of seasonal recipe ideas and fall craft projects. Of course, I will be topping everything off with classic books for fall reading and a cup of hot tea bundled up by the fire. Talk about a dream come true.
Fall means; change, mystery, preservation, protection, comfort and balance so let go and bring it on! Enjoy the beauty, soak in the smells and colors, cuddle up with comfort foods, harvest festivals or just by the fire. Be grateful its free and unlimited the abundance to take in with the change.
