Beat those Winter Blues

The days are shorter, the darn night hours extend. The air is chillier including rain, snow, or even ice. Don't let the winter blues slow you down. What inspires your passion and lights your heart enthusiasm?

The answers may vary from different interests; travel, meeting new people, learning something new, a hobby? Find your passion and follow it. Get out and absorb some vitamin D, don't let Winter slow or stop you.

Getting out in nature is a release and inspires health and human growth. It is a new year, so let go of the old and create space for a fresh awareness of new. There is still plenty of options out there, especially in the beautiful Pacific North West or even just our magnificent Gorge.

We all love the sunshine and even when the air temp is cool to the skin, the radiant sun provides energizing vitamin D. Fresh air to fill the lungs and the wind to clear out clutter in the brain. Winter has been mild, trails are open and ready for your boot impressions. Today I hiked the lower Cape Horn Trail. Sunshine, no people, gorge breeze, blue skies and magnificent scenery all around. Now, it closes Feb 1 for the Peregrine Falcon migration. There is still time to explore the trail or there are many more.

Trekking a trail not your thing? There are still numerous options to spark your soul. A drive, sit and watch the eagles or wildlife, grab a camera, grab a paint brush take it out there and just go. Don't let winter beat you down. Change your thoughts and change your life. Live with purpose and appreciate all it has to offer. Grab a friend, grab your dog or go alone........just go and seize the moment embark on a new adventure.
