Winter Wonderland v.s. Nature's Fury

Snow. That four letter work that takes on so many interpretations depending on your perspective.

Snow: gentle, soft, magical, peaceful, delicate and beautiful.

For some the idea of snow, enjoying the beauty. Each snowflake has its own identity. The wonder nature taking a droplet of water, crystallizing it with frigid air temperature. The gentleness as fluffy flakes float down from the sky leaving a blanket of purity.

Then there is another definition of snow.

Snow: cold freezing temperatures, destruction, work and damage.

Snow; comfort or challenge? The word comfort itself is a combined Latin word with meaning, " strong with". Snow is "strong", yet gentle.

When the sky is delicately dropping soft fluffy flakes, there is a total and peaceful silence in the forest. When Mother Nature drops several feet of this fluffy stuff, it not longer is gentle and becomes strong in force. With the heaviness in quantity of snow building up on gentle fir branches, the silence is broken with cracking limbs and crashing trees as they fall to their death. The overwhelming feeling of the walls closing in as you gaze out the window to see a fortress of white surrounding. The peaceful night that glows with reflection of light on the glistening white is shuttered as the rumbling sounds of snow sliding off the roof. Too much of a good thing?

So, to really appreciate Winter and snow, you must have a full understanding and "comfort". Because, when that fluffy white comes in abundance it takes great strength to keep finding the comfort and joy.
