Retreat, Revive and Re-Awaken

Spring is all around and as we get caught up in life pulling us 100 directions we need to pause now and then. Step away from all those modern life craziness even if the retreat is for a moment or a week. You have to do it!.

Revive, well, while waiting to catch the bears as they come out of hibernation and start the spring forage, there is so much else to take in.

Spring love! The turkeys are showing their strut and puffing the feathers as they flirt. The Osprey have returned to kick eagles out of the roost and take back nesting grounds.

Trilliums are almost gone but new spring flowers are awakening to continue the beauty. Eastern hillsides already have a show of golden Balsam Root, purple Lupine, and fire red Indian Paint Brush. the Dogwood are opening up and as one tree loses the blossoms, another one takes its turn to brilliantly shine. The winter dead of many trees have popped out the leaves for Summer shade. Find the small delicate lady slippers and orchids blooming on the forest floor.

Deer are settling in to find nesting places to birth new fawns and then it will be the Elks' turn to do the same. With a gentle reminder, if you see a new fawn that appears to be abandoned, let it be! Mama is close by and only around a corner trying to lure prey away from her newborn. The scent of a human will only prevent her from returning, let nature take care of itself.

As our bears to make it out in more open spaces to be scene, those bear cubs will always have a protective mama bear closer than you think. View from an extended distance.

So, take the retreat into all nature and the beauty of the Gorge has to offer. Take time for yourself to unplug from relationships, work, internet, media and the static of the world and take in Spring with its awakening of new life. Listen to the silence of nature, the birds, the gentle breeze felt on your face, smell of flowers, the sights of the beauty.

A retreat gives us time to go deep and spend time with ourselves and let go and revives our energy.

Spring is the perfect time and Gorge has so many opportunities to retreat, revive and let yourself re-awaken.
