Summer Solstice
Summer Solstice:

The sun has reached its highest point in the sky at noon, making it the longest day of our calendar year.
In Latin, the Sun is making a stand. Reaching its most Northern point from the Equator. Night and Day reach a moment of one single day they are equal in length.
"The still point of the sun, its cusp and midnight the year's threshold and unlocking where the past lets go of and becomes the future, the place of caught breath", Margaret Atwood
"Both Winter and Summer Solstice are expressions of love. They show us the opposition of light and dark, expansion and contraction, the characterizes our experiences in the Earth school so that we can recognize our options as we move through our lives." Gary Zokav
Solstice is generated meanings in our soul. the Earth, its rotation, the amount of light and dark effect our inner beings. Summer Solstice is a time for strength, vitality, for action and movement. Celebrate the scared time of reflection, release, restoration and renewal. The Sun energizes us and gives us time to be outside, to grow our gardens and harvest for Winter months. But, not just vegetable gardens, the garden of our soul and spirit.
Solstice, symbolizes many different things with spiritual energy and birth of the sun.

Of course, if you live in Southern California it is different than living in Alaska ( the land of the midnight sun). Where Summer Solstice is different, there are not equal amount hour so light and dark, its a total light day.
The amount of light we take in in 24 hours has effect on our sleep patterns and cycles of sleep. the human body is regulated by dark and light for sleep and awake time. We have been controlled by patterns for centuries. We respond to Mother Nature in a "natural way" with seasons and the sunrise/ sunset. Of course, our habits, work lives, and play can work against the natural rythym.
But for today, enjoy the longest day of the year, let it energize your soul and make the most of it, catch up on sleep come winter and be more "bear like". Go with the Sun's energy, venture and warm the soul. The mind, body and soul work together and when they are in sync and harmony we can function optimally. In 6 months we be at Winter Solstice, dark and cold.......so take it in now, get out and play!
