Today is your Day, Mountains are Waiting!

Making time for yourself or finding time for yourself. Life pushes us and sometimes just about to knock us over. Every day life has its pressures and we try to make the most of our time.....every day. So, in the mix of it all what about me? There is time, sometimes we just have to allow ourselves.
Life is more than achieving success and even caring for others. We can't help others if we don't care for ourselves first. Life has a balance and its o.k. to give to your own spirit first, in fact, its important to self vitality.
This week I found time to climb mountains! Well, one mountain. Hiking can rejuvenate the soul. I found it up Red Mountain. This soul likes solitude in the woods and sometimes hiking trails can be filled with others. There are many places to adventure off to in the Pacific Northwest and even just the Gorge. Not all places need to be well traveled, those forest roads with closed gates are perfect to explore, hike and find yourself without company of others.

Red Mountain has an old fire look out station. So of course, at the top you can see forever! A clear day that I found, views of Mt Hood, Mt Jefferson's peak, Mt St Helen, Rainier, Adams and many miles of forest in between. The gate is closed about 2 miles in, leaving a nice 3 miles up and 3 miles back down. Traces of wildlife exist, lots of elk tracks and trails and even some cougar scat. The top has breathtaking scenery and most the time alone!

The more you can pour into your soul the happier and more relaxed you will become. Making time to nurture the spirit may mean there is a sacrifice other less vital activities. But after all, if you can rejuvenate not only can you achieve peace in your heart but more energy to give.
So, "the mountains are calling, today is your day, your mountain is waiting....get on your way!", Dr Suess.
