Fall......Beginning or Ending?

Every season means change. One season coming to an end so another can begin. Fall can feel like an ending, flowers and gardens retreat into dormancy. Final harvest of fruits and vegetables. Temperatures drop, frost may even blanket the ground in the morning light. On a still morning, layers of fog creep through tree tops, leaving a silent stillness. Fall is a transformation; we leave behind Summer's heat and blooming flowers in exchange for shorter days and crisp leaves.

Change can be difficult. Human nature resists change and Fall's presence can leave an emptiness in the soul as we lament summer sunshine. Fall can shadow across a transforming silence, like trees shedding bark. So change with it, go into it and change your attitude!

Reasons to love Fall:

Perfect boot and sweater season

Bonfires

Crisp night skies

Rich colors in the trees

Harvest moon

Hayrides

Apples and Pumkins

And great time to hike!

Celebrate Fall, don't lament the disappearance of Summer. Embrace the change of life and what is present. Perception can shift your attitude. The universe can be unpredictable and constant change- so we need to shift our minds and go with the gusto. Discover the newness of the season. In the silence of the season take in the smells of: dampness, crisp air, warm fires and apple pie. There is immense strength in the seasons' silence of nature. Rustling leaves, sounds of the breeze, raindrops on the roof, or even a leaf floating to the ground. The silence can leave you vibrant and re-connected.

Autumn can represent the preservation of life and basic necessities, animals store food and prepare for winter, historically humans so the same. October is emergency preparedness month, in preparation of winter's severe possible storms. Man for centuries has harvested and dried or canned foods for upcoming winter months.

So prepare, harvest, store up and do not let cooler temperatures drive us inside to retreat! Layer up, bring out the winter clothes, insulate, throw on a jacket, scarf, boots and mittens and VENTURE OUTSIDE! Explore the Fall colors and brilliance of nature.....enjoy! Take a hike, take a drive, take a walk or sit by creek....take it in!

Summer is gone, it will be back next year.

Fall:

"the season for enjoying the fullness of life, the harvest, sharing of the harvest with others, reinvesting and saving portions of the harvest for yet another season of growth" Denis Waitley

"Fall has always been a favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale" Lauren Destefano

While Fall may feel like an ending, it is a beginning.
