For the Love of the Great Outdoors!

Hike? Walk? What is the difference? The definition of a hike: a long walk especially in the country or wilderness. When you hike from a lower elevation to a higher elevation. When you are walking it means you are only trekking a relatively smooth or flat path. Hiking entails a lot more effort than walking.

"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity." - John Muir
So, hiking does not have to be on a trail or even bush wacking through the brush to climb a mountain. With all the hiking trails closed, the forest closed and stay at home orders so we should not be driving to a location away from our neighborhood to walk or hike....time to be creative! I do of course live on the boarder of the forest, there is also private property around my neighborhood which is undeveloped, its great to have neighbors who share access.
Worried how long this stay at home and closures would last, finally make a hiking goal for 2020 of 52 + hikes.....can not get behind and must stay on track.

“A walk in nature walks the soul back home.” “Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you are climbing it.” “You're off to great places, today is your day. Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way.” Dr Suess
Why does it matter to keep up on the hikes? After-all, why do we hike? For peace of mine, search for inner peace, to get away from the stress in life and a way to relish the joy of nature. I still walk daily, whether its a daily walk or hike the importance to inhale fresh air, observe nature does leave one full of enthusiasm and positive energy.

"It’s not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves." - Sir Edmund Hillary
So throw on the boots, grab the water, the camera and hike from your door step and get on your way! Explore anything nature around you. Just be mindful of closures, trespassing....do it all from your front door step.
