Listen to the Silence

Mornings are my favorite time of day. The peacefulness as the day take hold. Spring can have more chatter with the birds, even a still evening listening to an owl hootin' in the shadows of the moonlight. On a foggy morning, the trees are silent and fog creeps around the hilltop and around the tree limbs. There is a stillness and silence. It is cleansing to the mind to listen to the silence.

How the slight change in weather can change the sounds. Of course, rain has different tunes. The gentle taps of tiny drops or the loud splats of a down pour beating against the ground. If the wind decides to be present it can gently whisper in the trees or howl across the sky, even knock a tree down with loud cracks. In the misty morning fog, many days nature is not awake yet and the stillness presents silence. Morning can slowly wake up to take hold in a gentle manner, especially on a crisp snowy day.

Some days I need to hear your voice. A bright sunny day adds the cheerful hello to a morning. Even the birds are chattering more on a sunny day as they zoom in for breakfast. There are days I need a glimpse of color, even if its a brief moment of a kiss to the day. A morning with a few drifting clouds, the absence of fog hanging around and the sun perking up behind the hillside can provide a brilliant "good morning"!

Nature has its own music and if you listen, sends you a message. So don't start your day with a radio, TV, car noise or any of those man made static that clutters the heart. Avoid distractions and listen for the "peaceful easy feelings" to start the day. The silence is a perfect time to collect the thoughts, say a prayer and open up your soul.

we work 8 hours a day to live for 4 we work 5-6 days a week to enjoy 1

we work 8 hours to eat in 15 minutes and sleep 5

we work all year for a 2 week vacation

we work a life time to retire in old age

then we contemplate only our last breaths

Life is a short journey live it collect memories, not stuff.

"He was born in the summer of his twenty-seventh year

Coming home to a place he'd never been before

He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again

You might say he found a key for every door

When he first came to the mountains, his life was far away

On the road and hangin' by a song

But the string's already broken, and he doesn't really care

It keeps changin' fast, and it don't last for long .... Now he walks in quiet solitude, the forests and the streams

Seeking grace in every step he takes

His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand

The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake" - John Denver

The sun will come up, even if it hides in the clouds. Life will move forward, so don't miss it!

Start the day right, enjoy and appreciate it. The day will go better if you let it say good morning to you and listen as it speaks.
