Reflections

We can find reflections all over in nature. Sometimes one of the most predominant reflections is a tall snowy mountain against the blue sky as it reflects in a ripple less lake. Reflections are like mirrors, even a rain puddle on the road can display a simple yet pretty reflection of the tree next to it. I dew drop on a flower can create a tiny mirror. “Reflection is one of the most underused yet powerful tools for success.” Richard Carlson

Reflections are more than just a production of an image in a mirror and the image given back to you. It is important for us to " self reflect" for our own wellness. We create our own habits and patterns, and a reflection of the mountain in the lake is nothing more than light waves of the pattern of nature. The mountain reflects on a calm sunny day with no wind to distract the pattern. The water has no ripples to distort the reflection. Life is the same, we have so many distractions that disrupt our thought patterns, its good to be still without wind or noise to distort the view and reflect deep inside. Reflections are more than looking back on memories. “It’s a beautiful thing for mind, body, and spirit to take some time daily for reflection.” Anonymous
With calendar years, sometimes we give ourselves permission to look back on a past full year. We look back on experiences, moments in time that effected us with hopes and plans to learn from these reflections and set new goals. If we take the time to climb a mountain or a prime area with the feeling of being on top a mountain ( even if you took a gondola to get there), the moment can present with a spectacular view for us to look out on the world and reflect. Maybe a reflection of joy, self accomplishment for reaching the top. When you stand on top a mountain and the view seems to go forever with valleys, trees , hills and other mountain tops, it is breath taking. We find it easy to reflect sitting on top the world.

"Climbed a mountain and I turned around And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills 'Til the landslide brought me down Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? - Stevie Nicks
While the top of a mountain is filled with self gratification, don't wait until the end of the year or reaching a mountain top to take the time for self reflections. Your soul deserves you to nourish it with daily or at least often self reflection. Observe yourself living your life, in the present. Try to "catch yourself" when your unconscious is in control, leading you to feel, think, and act in ways that bother you. Through self-reflection your self-awareness will grow. Once you are aware of your inner programming, you are on the path to authenticity and greater control over your life.

"you will find many challenges in life
but many rewards too.
You are who you are today
because of the hard times and the good times
accept all"- unknown
As I reflect and lie today, often think of my dad, he would say, "Hold on and celebrate the ride". Celebrate ordinary moments and they will fill your heart with extraordinary moments.
“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” Proverb
