The clock is speeding up

One day you are a kid and time seems forever when you are waiting. We wait to be a teenager, can't wait until 16 and can drive! Hurry and and get here 18 so I am an "adult" and be done with high school. Yes 21....whoo- hoo now I can legally drink alcohol. Then 30 hits and feeling like a "grown up adult". 40, how did that happen, I was just 20? 50 was a little scary, half a century old and your kids are grown up and starting families. The clock is speeding out of control........60 came like race car, zero to 60 in a flash!

But age is really just a number, the number of times the Earth has done its full revolution around the sun to equal the number of years you have traveled on the Earth around our sun. Why do we count our trips around the sun? There is so much more we should count;

count your blessing

count your successes

count everything you should appreciate in this world

count your challenges ( you have over come them)

count the joys

count the miracles, they are all around us every day

count how many people you smile at today

count the sunrises or sunsets. There are so many things we could count and they equal the quality of your life, not the years of your life. It is a true blessing to say, " I am 60", some people do not get 60 to be able to say this.

We live in a perfect world, well, at least God created the perfect world. Let's not count how many times man has screwed it up. But, life itself is precious and a miracle. Each of us have been chosen to be a part of that big picture and that is a blessing. So every day, count your blessings, not your numbers and age.

You can spend your time counting the meaningless things, worry about the things you are missing, don't have the want list, the to do list of things to count. If you focus on the number, you miss the dash in between and like the poem; there is a number of the day your were born and we place a number on the grave of the day we die with a dash in the middle. That little dash represents your whole life, make it count! We hurry up through life waiting to get to the next period and season of our life, slow it down and enjoy where you are now, tomorrow its gone.

"Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not here yet, Today, must be the best day of my life"- Rick Burns He might have used it from someone else, but my dad said this every day! Today is the day, don't let it slip away. Today I enjoyed a cupcake with my coffee.....because I can.
