Adapting, Changing the Way of Thinking

In times like this we have to adapt, be creative to enjoy the same routines. I took the 52 hikes/52 week challenge, and those that know me, know I must exceed the 52. So, since I can't "hike" and go anywhere, we made our daily walk into a hike.

Throw on the boots, pack and head out of the driveway and with permission from a neighbor to use the old logging road to walk, which is now private land. I want to emphisize: I walked from my driveway ( did not drive and park somewhere), this is private property and not open to anyone who wants and I had verbal permission. But we put in 4.5 miles with incline, little rain, the trees and nature.....sharing photos for those who can't get out to get their daily dose of nature.

Not only did I think about the challenges, but I thought about the "why" and was reminded that it's all worth it. I also thought about how powerful it is to connect with our family and friends.

Even though we are doing things alone, we are not doing it all by ourselves. Stay safe and stay healthy but stay 6 feet apart! Continue with the challenge, after all life is a challenge so don't give up! Not letting a pandemic virus get in the way of my challenge. Go with the flow, change your way of thinking and adapt.

“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back.” —Paulo Coelho

Nature has its way of healing and it is all around us. Feeling blessed to live in Skamania County, with nature is abundant and plenty of open space for social 6+ feet distancing! Seeing beauty like this makes any day better...even when it’s raining and hailing. I hope you, too, got out for a walk, run or throw the boots on and make it a hike/walk. Change the attitude, adapt to the situation and get out and go where ever you are ( as long as you are staying close to home and practicing the social distancing and county laws for safe practice stay at home orders). Life is still out there and it is still waiting- don't let a challenge instill fear and prevent you from keeping up your daily challenges of life-

"Thank you Vicki Vance for the artwork from a photo of mine. I want to be sure to give credit the wonderful artist and friend. The artwork shows and inspired me to this writing, adapting. She took a photo of mine and played with her pencils to draw it. It tells a story and shows adapting and art is seeing in a different perspective."

I also did not "hike/walk" alone! But showing to share our social distancing on our 4.5 mile journey. My daily walks are a big part of my routine, piece of mind and mental health, thanks Sally and Beth!
