The Start of Your Day

How do you start your day? How our day begins, the choices we make, and rituals can make a big impact on the rest of the day unfolds. Now I get some people are just not "morning people". I do admit, I pop out of bed with a smile on my face and some take longer to get the blood flow to the brain. But if you start with jumping up and running out the door not taking time to awaken your soul, it can change the whole day to a different outcome.

As the days start to stretch a little longer and Winter finishes its time we have more daylight in the beginning of our days. Morning sets the tone of the day and its important to take the time to appreciate it. Listen to the silence of the morning, it has much to say. It does help to keep natural rhythms, like going to bed at the same time and awakening at the same time. Your body will tune to Natures clock and it is possible to awaken the same time of day without a startling alarm. Now, an alarm is important to be sure to be up on time for appointments and work commitments. For years, my body naturally awakened before any alarm would sound
Taking peaceful time to awake, watch the sky, the trees, the horizon lift with light sets a tone. Every morning sky is different. It is not just the seasons that make the mood different. The natural factors of course; wind, rain, fog, snow or a cheery sun brightening against the blue can set a tone. But, the time you take to appreciate, let your soul awake with the day light can energize you for whatever schedule your day awaits. Centering yourself and focusing on the morning as it awakens actually helps to take charge and prepare for the day. "Everyday is a new beginning. Take a deep breath, smile and start again. Good Morning!" - unknown

Your morning is yours and should reflect not only your practical needs but also the needs of your soul. When you center yourself at the start of your day, you will likely find it easier to remain centered during subsequent work, play, and downtime because the overall sense of serenity you create through your choices will stay with you throughout the day. Of course, if you "need your coffee", never suggesting to pass your morning without. But, what about really enjoying the pleasure of the coffee while enjoying the morning awakening and listen to what nature has to tell you. There is a practical side to this as well, you can better prepare what to wear seeing how the day is going to start...windy? a jacket, snowing? a warmer coat and maybe little extra time to travel. Whatever the morning is telling you, stop and listen before you start the day and set your soul tune in with nature.
" A happy person is happy, not because everything is right in his life. He is happy because his attitude towards everything in his life is right."-
